Simple Eye Makeup ft Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette

I used the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette to create this look. I first primed my eyes with my favorite primer, the Maybelline Fit Me concealer in 15 Fair. I took White Chocolate to set that concealer. Salted Caramel was buffed into my crease as a nice transition shade. I then put Semi Sweet all over my lid, and blended the line with a little bit of Cherry Cordial, concentrating that color mostly on the outer part of my eyelid. Under my eyes, I used Triple Fudge, mixed with Cherry Cordial. I then reused White Chocolate as my brow bone and inner corner highlight. For eyeliner, I used the Sephora brand pencil liner in a deep chocolate shade in Deep Brown. Lastly, I used Jordana Best Lash Extreme as my mascara. 

Very simple yet elegant look, perfect for daytime wear!

BareMinerals Lash Domination Mascara vs. Jordana Best Lash Extreme Mascara

Okay, so I recently got my hands on a sample size of the BareMinerals Lash Domination Mascara and I was super excited (mainly because it was a gift....mama refuses to pay more than 9 dollars for a mascara). 

Anyway, I tried the BareMinerals mascara and was incredibly pleased, despite the very, VERY strange wand. It looks like it could take your eye out, and it definitely hurts like crazy if you poke yourself in the eye with it (not that I've done it or anything....).

This is what that crazy mo-fo looks like, if you haven't seen it. 

According to the BareMineral's site, 

"Volume you can see. Power you can feel. The be-all, end-all, 10-in-1 volumizing, lengthening, thickening, separating, long-wearing mascara has arrived. The exclusive ProTwist180^TM Wand is spiraled 180° to curve around lashes and coat ALL angles with intense black color. Powered by nourishing minerals and quinoa protein complex for larger-than-life lashes."

And I'd say it separates my lashes and provides volume. Length? Not too sure about that. It also doesn't hold a curl the best.

This is what the mascara looks like on my eye. I'm not wearing any other makeup on my face or my eye lids, nor have I tight lined. It's purely mascara. It's also after one coat, and curling my lashes. 

However, this is what my other eye looks like when I wear my tried and true Jordana Best Lash Extreme mascara. 

Again, I'm not wearing any other makeup on my face, nor have I tight lined. One coat, lashes curled. 

This mascara keeps my lashes curled longer, and since the brush isn't crazy, I can get closer to the base of my eyelashes. It's also easier to do my lower lashes. 

On the left is the Jordana Best Lash Extreme, and on the right is the BareMinerals Lash Domination. 

In my opinion, the Jordana one has better curl hold and the wand is easier to maneuver. It's also so much easier to get close to my lid. 

All in all, the BareMinerals one isn't bad, but I don't think it's worth the money. I'll use up the travel size though, and update if my opinion changes.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette: Look of the Day

  

Today I used the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette to create this look. I used the Maybelline Fit Me concealer in 15 Fair as my primer, and set that with White Chocolate. I then grabbed Salted Caramel and a small amount of Milk Chocolate, and blended that into my crease. For my eyeliner, I used L'Oreal Lacquer Liner in Blackest Black and a small angled brush to create a wing. My mascara is Jordana Best Lash Extreme. For my browbone highlight and inner corner highlight, I used that same White Chocolate shade. On my lower lash line, I used a hint of Semi-Sweet and used a large blending brush to make sure there were no harsh edges. Excuse my brows, I changed shirts before taking this picture so they're not as nice as they originally were. 

I decided to go for a very simple and natural look today, I hope you enjoy! 

The Lorac Pro Palette

I'm sure you all have heard plenty about the Lorac Pro Palette. I only have the first one, sadly; the second one looks absolutely gorgeous.

This is the palette itself. It has very sleek packaging; the texture is very smooth and soft to the touch. It's made out of sturdy cardboard and has a magnetic closure. On the inside, there is a large mirror and all of your shadows. It also comes with Lorac's eye shadow primer.

 

This is what the inside of the palette looks like. The thing I like about this palette as opposed to other palettes is that there is a designated matte row and a designated shimmer row. 

     

Close up, you can see what sort of colors are in the palette. The top row consists of

- White: a matte white with glitter, perfect for highlighting the brow bone 

-Cream: a matte cream shade, perfect for all over the lid

-Taupe: a matte light brown shade, perfect transition shade or eyebrow color

-Lt. Pink: a matte, very light pink shade- very honestly is hard to distinguish from Cream

-Mauve: a matte purple-y brown, my favorite matte shade in the palette. Great transition shade. 

-Sable: a matte, warm, medium toned brown. Good for outer corner, lower lash line, or brows.

- Espresso: a matte, neutral toned brown. Good for outer corner, lower lash line, or brows. 

-Black: a matte black. Good for eyeliner, outer corner, and lower lash line.

I do really enjoy the matte shades, they feel like butter when you touch them and they blend like a dream. A tip, however: I would use a synthetic brush, as it won't dig into the product and cause as much kick up. And yes, these shadows cause a lot of kick up, so be careful. 

The second row consists of all shimmer colors. 

-Nude: a shimmery light champagne color. Perfect for inner corner or as a brow bone highlight.

-Champagne: a glittery  light champagne color. This color is the same as Nude, except there are chunks of glitter instead of a shimmer effect. Perfect for all over the lid or for the brow bone.

-Gold: a shimmery, bronze-y gold. This is the most beautiful, pigmented gold I have ever used. Perfect for all over the lid.

-Lt. Bronze: a shimmery light brown color, perfect for all over the lid.

-Pewter: a shimmery, cool toned version of Lt. Bronze. Perfect for all over the lid.

-Garnet: a shimmery, rich red color. Perfect for all over the lid.

-Deep Purple: a shimmery, dark purple color. Perfect for last third of lid or on the lower lash line.

-Slate: a shimmery, grey blue color. Perfect for all over the lid or the lower lash line.

All in all, I think these shadows are incredible. This was the first high end product I ever purchased, back in 2013. I've had plenty of time to mess around with these shadows, and I used solely these shadows for both my Winter Formal makeup and my Prom makeup. 

        

These shadows are so blend-able and rich. However, they do cause a lot of kick up, and you are going to want to tap off your brush before you touch your eye. I don't remember having a problem with fall out, save for when I used Champagne, but you are going to have some if you do not tap your brush off. 

This palette retails for $42. I got mine off of Amazon, however you can purchase it from the Lorac website or through Ulta. 

Pros:

-Shadows have great pigmentation. I would even consider these shadows pressed pigments. 

-Shadows blend very well.

-There is a versatile color range.

-The price is good compared to other high end palettes, such as the Naked palettes. 

Cons: 

-Shadows cause a lot of kick up.

-If you aren't careful, there could be a lot of fall out. 

Review: Fruit of the Earth Vitamin E Skin Care Cream

Fruit of the Earth Vitamin E Skin Care Cream. Could they have made the name any longer? After all, it is just lotion.

If you want the short version, here it is: I love this stuff. 

If you want the long version, well, here we go. 

In this container, you get 4 OZ of product. The product itself is white and it has a distinct, very clean smell to it. The texture is very creamy and cooling when placed on the skin, especially in more sensitive places. When I bought it, I intended to use it just on my legs. However, one night I got desperate for some face lotion and thought, "what the heck do I have to lose?"

I have been using this stuff for about two months now. My skin has honestly never looked better, and I attribute it to this lotion. The small bumps on my forehead have virtually disappeared (there are a couple stubborn little guys, unfortunately), and my skin looks plump and healthy when I wake up. I put a generous amount on my face every morning and evening, and it looks great under makeup.  It soaks in very quickly and is not greasy; it just leaves your face feeling smooth. 

The best part about this stuff is that you can find it at your local Walmart; at least, that's where I found mine. It came in a pack of two jars, for less than 4 dollars (I believe). Yes, it's $3.67 on Walmart's website and it's $6.40 on Amazon. 

This product is also especially useful when it comes to burns. Razor burn, sun burn, and even chemical burn (from hair dye or leaving a face mask on for too long), you name it, and your skin will feel so much better when you wake up the next morning if you slather some of this miracle cream on it. 

As I said earlier, I have been using this stuff for about two months. I've barely made a dent in the first container, and I use a generous (and I mean generous) amount on my face twice a day. This product has become a necessity in my everyday beauty routine, and I will repurchase it when I exhaust my stash. 

Who am I?

My name is Taylor, and I'm a college freshman. A few facts about me:
- I am never satisfied with my hair. Or rather, I get bored with it very quickly, and I frequently head over to my local Target, Walmart, or Sally's to pick up a fresh box or bottle. It's not the best for my hair, but I'm kind of an impulsive buyer.
- My curiosity with makeup started when I was a freshman in high school, and I decided to sign up for our spring musical (which was Annie, if you were wondering). The little sign up sheet had boxes to check the areas in which you were interested in, and I ended up being a makeup designer for the show.
-My passion for makeup started when I was a sophomore in high school. I chose to pursue theater (ending up doing tech 5 different shows, and I acted in one), and we had this trend where, on show nights, the techie girls would get gussied up. I, not knowing the "rules" of makeup, left the house with eyeliner and no mascara. One of the people I worked along side was horrified and made me take off all of my makeup; she then redid all of it the "right" way. The embarrassment that ensued caused me to go home and watch tutorial after tutorial... And 3 years later, here I am.
-I have a dog, her name is Harley and she's a Yorkie-poo. She weighs about 5 pounds and is the love of my life. I also have a cat, and he's kind of a butt sometimes.
-If I'm going to be honest with you, the love of my life is actually a man in the United States Marine Corps.
-I have yet to declare a major. It's not that I'm uninterested in everything, it's that I have too many interests, if that makes sense. How am I supposed to narrow it down to one?
-I'm attempting to learn French on my own. Granted, I started about two weeks ago, but I think it's something I would like to continue.
-Unless it's 70 degrees and sunny, I'm cold.
-Good ol' Harry Potter. Man do I love those books.
